Draws perfect here in one over this short course and may not lead today where they may prefer the drop on them as they will go like the clappers. Has been good in her last couple of runs and should be going very close here.
Race 6, No. 2 COOL PRINCE
Just missed last week in record time and will find this Sawtell Cup a tad easier. Loves a firm track so hoping for an upgrade from a soft 5 throughout the day and at $8 looks way over the odds for a great run last weekend.
SUNSHINE COAST - Alex Marsh
Race 7, No. 4 KIRIANA
Well bred (out of a daughter to Let's Elope and half sister to Let's Make Adeal), lightly raced mare that remains at this track/trip after a soft third up victory and where she comfortably got the better of Rains Aplenty who did frank the form by winning a similar race to this last week. Seemingly handles all conditions and should be going on with it now.
Race 9, No. 1 SUPERSONIC BOOM
Tambo's Mate the one to beat back in class but is short at $1.50 which sees this 3yo at $10 and a decent each way price. Nice fresh run which he wins in another few strides and didn't handle the heavy track at all in town at his latest. Third up last prep, he did place behind an eventual listed/group performer in Spirit's Pride via a decent form race.
PAKENHAM SYNTHETIC - David Taggart
Race 7, No. 1 NON PAEAR
Forget her first up run where she usually runs well but never got through the going. Locally trained, had a pretty good win here at the trials in order for this and is clearly the best horse in the race. Gets the little claim for young gun Tom Stockdale and should just be winning.
Race 9, No. 1 DANE THUNDER
Comes off a short break, is always comfortable in this grade and races on this Synthetic for the second time. Significant class drop on previous runs and if he is ready to go the 20/1 looks way over the odds.
DEVONPORT SYNTHETIC - Alex Marsh
Race 7, No. 7 IVORYMAN
Looks a good each way proposition now fourth up this honest grey who was clearly the pick of those coming out of the pack to place here in a similar race a fortnight ago and meets that winner better at the weights. Just needs to be that pair or two closer on straightening and should be right in the mix again.
Race 4, No. 8 EXCEEDING VIRTUE
Has opened up at a tick under $5 in his first two runs this campaign where ultimately has found the 900m just a little sharp but they haven't been bad efforts and the extra 250m today suits with the blinkers going on. Competitive maiden but does look over the odds at $15 given he has more in his favor today.
NARRANDERA - David Taggart
Race 8, No. 3 AMTHAAL
Now in the care of Mark Gee this looks to have been set to win this Narrandera Cup after catching the eye first up after 8 months off. Steps straight up to the mile and draws well in 3 to race closer. Best runs have been early in his prep and should be going very close here.
Race 4, No. 1 SQUEAKY SQUIRREL
Solid run second up and surprisingly finds himself at odds here dropping in grade from last start. Well and truly proven in this grade and with an in form hoop on, looks a great each way play at $10.
PORT AUGUSTA - Alex Marsh
Race 7, No. 3 NO PAROLE
Very tough card for a standout so will take the risk on this 4yo resuming in the last who was good on debut here before going up in grade and failing when well in the market. Did show some ability in Victoria and whilst this is potentially a little short, it's a weak race and he's the best horse in it.
Race 3, No. 12 WHERE'S THE BOSS
Was specked at a price in his first start on the dirt when resuming a fortnight ago where he was a little tardy away but did get home to place and should be better suited with the rise in trip today. Open to improvement and at around 10/1, he is well amongst the each way chances again.
KALGOORLIE - Alex Marsh
Race 5, No. 1 NEMIROFF
Goes up a little in the weights but does stay in the same grade where he can hold his form third up and on what can be a tough circuit to round them up in these sprints, he should be able to dictate this up front once again. Ran in some strong races early days and is well placed now going through the grades at this level.
Race 7, No. 3 EVOLUTIONIST
Ex Victorian that came with a big finish to score third up over the 1200m here last start and whilst up in grade today, drops 1.5kg for her trouble and the extra 100m should suit. This looks to be very busy up front again where if it sets up for one making ground, she looks the most likely culprit at around an $8 quote.
