1. THINKIN' BIG
Jockey: Tim Clark Barrier: 9 O
Pros: Typical tough Waterhouse runner who was brilliant in the Caulfield Classic to lead all the way and his only failure this time in was on a wet track where he was wide throughout and he still managed to sneak a placing.
Cons: Is by High Chaparral but his dam side suggests 2000m might be as far as he gets. He did have all the favors in that Caulfield Classic as well and there's likely to be more pressure earlier here.
Verdict: Deserving of favoritism, just whether he's a betting proposition at $3 is another question.
Jockey: Tye Angland Barrier: 10 O
Pros: Seems to be timing his run into this well and has always looked an out and out stayer which his classical European breeding backs up on both sides of his family. Big track is a tick, he's quite versatile and has last year's VRC Derby winning hoop on.
Cons: Maybe just lacks the brilliance of a few of these although that might be a stretch to state that right now. Also, as well as he's going, he's still in his first racing preparation.
