The late betting drift suggested he was likely to need the run first up and his condition did give out late but with a lot more improvement to come, this was still a strong return. He's a very genuine galloper that's more effective ridden closer to the speed and I suspect the Silverbowl Series at Flemington is the aim over the winter.
Race 8 - (1400 METRES) - CARZOFF - 10th. Trainer: Chris Waller.
Was always going to find this a little sharp resuming but it was a much better effort than tenth suggested. He looked to be bolting when doing his best work late but just never got a crack at them and there's no doubt he should have finished closer. Did put a few wins together at the back-end of last prep and looks set for a good campaign.
Race 9 - (1600 METRES) - DESPACITO - 4th. Trainer: Tony McEvoy.
In very good touch at the moment this filly who hit this third up and on the 7 day back-up from last week when getting home well. Just left a little flat footed at the 250m before picking up again late, she's giving the impression that 2000m could be right down her alley now and with a rating of only 67, can drop well back in grade.
